Modoc,

laps to go spinning in front of Dennis Franklin. This time
Chavous was not to be defeated. After falling back to 9th on
the initial start Wendell began to work his way spot after
spot passing the likes of big name drivers such as Larry
Timms, and David Smith on his was to the top. Finally with
just a few laps to go Wendell was in a heated battle with
veteran Bob Robertson for second place. Chavous finally made
the low line stick coming out of turn two to take the second
spot. When the checkered flag feel
Wendell was riding in second, however after post race
inspection, race winner Brandon Overton was found 23 pounds
light. This gave the win to Wendell Chavous, making it his
4th win of the season and highest pay day in his career.
Wendell Chavous racing will now begin their off season,
getting their equipment prepared for the upcoming 2009
season. The 2008 season can written up as a success for

Shows Skill in Second Win of '08 |
|
Grovetown, GA -
Wendell Chavous rolled into Gordon Park Speedway,
Saturday September 13th for the first time in a month with
one thing in mind, returning to victory where he had visited
eight times last season in a hobby car. With 14 cars signed
in and two heat races to decided the feature starting
positions Wendell started last in his heat and worked his
was to 4th place finish giving him a 7th place starting spot
in the feature event. When the green flag flew Wendell
quickly went to work finding a line around the 4/10's mile
semi banked clay oval that fit his driving style. Wendell
quickly got to 4th behind fellow competitor Chris Steele in
3rd when the top two cars made contact and took each other
out of competition. This put Wendell in second and in his
words, "I found a line on the inside of (turn) two that was
beginning to get grip and I finally went in there and it
stuck and made the pass down the back stretch into three."
From that point on Chavous put a straight away between
himself and Steele and went on to take the checkered flag in
dominating fashion. Wendell collect $800 in the victory

$2,000 first place prize in the crate late model class. On

10 laps into the event fast qualifier Chris Usry got around
Wendell for second. Wendell held strong in third as Usry and
himself battle for second and closed in on leader Bob
Robertson. With laps winding down, you could throw a blanket
over the top three. While working through lap cars and
trying to get around Robertson Wendell and Usry made contact
coming out of turn 4 with one lap to go. Chavous and Usry
made contact and split a lap car going down the back stretch

Rolling Deuces at Modoc in Back to Back Weeks |
|
Modoc,
SC - Modoc Speedway featured a $1500 to win event on May
23rd which turned into a battle between two local hot shoes
in the Crate Late Model ranks as Wendell Chavous and Brandon
Overton put on a show for the lead. Chavous Racing driver
Wendell, ended up with a strong second place finish after
the track locked down late in the night. The very next
weekend Wendell walked away with an extra $500 after setting
the quick time and earning the Fast Time Award sponsored by
Southeastern Auto Sales in another increased purse event at
Modoc Speedway paying $1300 to win. However the quick time
gave Wendell the inside spot on the first row, which led him
to fall into second place on the start. After battling track
conditions Wendell walked away with
another second place finish in as many weeks. Wendell will
take a few weeks off and return to racing geared up to get
that second victory on the year. Wendell has had a great
year starting off so far only finishing outside of the top
10 just once, which was a race he was leading most of the
way. Check back to the official news source for Wendell
